But today narratives operate on a whole new level. Most of our experience of reality is now mediated so what used to be the certainty of facts emanating from direct experience has been replaced by the persuasive power of the stories we hear and almost everything can become narrative. Moreover, the scale of information distribution and diffusion today are such that a narrative can summon a whole new reality for millions of people in literally minutes.
